My name is Elissaveta Kamburava, I live in Sofia, Bulgaria, I have 2 sons and Slav my little one has been kidnapped by his father.

I married Mr Mounir Mezher in November 4th 1990. Samuel, our first son was born in Beirut in 1991. Slav was born on September 30th, 1993 in Sofia. I lived in the house of my in-laws for the last 5 years and my husband didn’t try to find another place to live. Furthermore, he didn’t legalize the certificate for higher education for me, to obtain permission for work.

That’s why I decided to flee from Lebanon on June 18th, 1995. I filed for divorce. In February 1999 the Bulgarian court granted me the custody.

In November 1999, after school Slav has been abducted  by his father and two of his friends in downtown Sofia. The same day at 6pm Slav has been seen with the same guys at the Serb Bulgarian border, leaving Bulgaria for Lebanon.

On June 25th, 2001, the Sofia District court convicted the abductors (including Mounir Mezher Slav’s father, Lebanese citizen).

Since November 1999 I have had no contact with Slav.

The Bulgarian state and International Organizations dealing with parental abductions could not provide any information about Slav‘s way of life, health or education because he is more than 5 years old. However, according to the police and Interpol, Slav now lives in Beirut Lebanon.
